I’ve always loved cross dissolve transitions, but at the same time always found them boring. Then I discovered the Laplacian Pyramid Blend technique and thought it needed to be a plugin!
Simulating double-exposure by blending frequencies.
Amalgam separates both source images into a stack of frequency bands (a Laplacian pyramid) to rebuild a single frame from the result.
Broad tones cross-fade smoothly with no visible seam; fine detail is merged band by band, so it stays sharp instead of averaging into mush.
