Drop it on text, shapes or logos. Real refraction and thickness, read from the layer’s own alpha, not a flat warp. Any alpha works: outlined text, hairline strokes, a logo with holes in it, even an alpha movie.
Assign a Background Layer for what shows through, or leave it empty to use the built-in studio.

Drop Glaze Adjustment onto the layer you want to be the glass, and every layer below refracts through it at once. No background picker, no pre-composing, and you never build the adjustment layer yourself.
Most of the time it stays one layer: your shape, text, pre-comp or alpha footage becomes the glass where it already sits, and nothing is added to the timeline. When the layer carries its own effects, masks, a parent or time remapping, Glaze builds two layers instead, with a small helper above your artwork. In that setup an effect on your layer changes the glass shape as well, so Turbulent Displace makes the glass wobble. Split into two layers and Merge into one layer switch between them at any time, one undo either way.
Your layer stays yours: move it, scale it, rotate it, retype the text, and the glass follows.
